English Project Euler Question 17 Number Names Letter Counts

If the numbers from 1 to 5 are written in English: one, two, three, four, five. In these, there are a total of 3 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 4 = 19 letters.

If all numbers from 1 to 1000 were written with their names, how many letters would be used?

NOTE: Do not count spaces and hyphens. For example, 342 (three hundred and forty-two) contains 23 letters and 115 (one hundred and fifteen) contains 20 letters. The use of "and" in British English when writing numbers is also included in the rules.
