Townsmen - A Kingdom Rebuilt - Review
Townsmen - A Kingdom Rebuilt
In short, Townsmen is the most successful game among village building and development games that I've tried recently. Its graphics, music, gameplay, ... and many other features quickly drew me in and it was a bit hard to break away. At first, you may struggle but to avoid this, there are short educational videos on the developer's YouTube channel and there are also educational scenarios within the game. If you are more or less familiar with this type of game, you can figure everything out with a little tinkering and start your adventure.
In our game, you are first expected to build a village and meet the needs and wants of your people—in other words, you are a feudal lord. Over time, your village will grow, and different needs will arise or problems will appear. What these are and how they are solved are mentioned below. Let's continue for now. The game features dynamic weather conditions and four seasons. Each season has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, a storm might break out and lightning can strike houses, starting fires. If a snowstorm hits, the durability of houses starts dropping rapidly. No crops grow in winter... and many more events like this make the gameplay fun. If you cannot store crops like grain and grapes for the winter, you can trade with the merchant who comes to your region at certain intervals to buy what you need and sell what you don't for money. In order for a merchant to arrive, you must have at least one marketplace.
- Food: The food in stock. You must produce foods like bread, meat, and fish.
- Water: The amount of water in stock, and the wells you built are sufficient.
- Desires: The average value of all fulfilled requests; if you fulfill 100% of all requests, this also becomes 100%.
- Marketplace: You need enough marketplaces for your village. As the population increases, you should build more marketplaces.
- Accommodation Conditions: You should build better houses and, depending on your number of houses, open a carpenter. All buildings wear down and collapse over time. Carpenters handle these repairs. You can also do the repairs yourself.
- Religion: You need to build churches and cathedrals. Of course, depending on the number of people in your village, you may need to build two, three, or even more.
- Entertainment: There are four entertainment buildings, and you have to build them.
- Clothes: Depends on the clothes in stock.
- Jewelry: Depends on the jewelry in stock.
- Decoration: They want you to decorate and beautify your village with various decorations.
- Society Satisfaction: They want you to build taverns and similar places. In short, people want to socialize there.
My score for the game: 🎮🎮
