MMORPG

MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role playing game), or in Turkish, massively multiplayer online role-playing game. As can be understood from its name, these are role-playing games with a very large game universe or a very large map, where a considerable number of people play together via the Internet.

Most players have played games of this kind at some point in their lives, and in fact, many people have ended relationships or done poorly in school because they dedicate a large part of their day to these games. Who knows, maybe you reading this are one of them. Nevertheless, the friendships gained in these types of games can be quite strong as well.

In MMORPGs, you first create a character. You choose your race, shape, gender, powers, and you enter the universe of that game. Apart from differences and variations in stories and character types, most have similar gameplay styles. You start at the lowest level and, as you progress through the story, complete quests, and strengthen your character, you reach higher levels. Of course, there is no obligation; some people just want to wander around in the universes of MMORPG games. The reason they want to play like this is either that they do not want to dedicate a lot of time, or simply because they like the maps and scenery of MMORPG games. They are right, the designs are so beautiful that you don't want to leave the game or you want to go to the next map and wander there as well.



MMORPG games are played more in some countries and cultures. Once companies realized how much money they could make from MMORPG games, they started to make more games in this genre. By selling small extras, features, or accessories in-game, they can make millions of dollars. You can find thousands of active MMORPG games of different kinds on different devices. Other than the story, looks, and style of gameplay, their general structure is very similar, so you can choose which one you want to play by doing a bit of research. For example, there is NosTale, which has anime-style graphics. There is Neverwinter, with a darker theme and realistic graphics. There is Albion Online, which has a sandbox style. There is World of Warcraft, which millions of players still play, keeps growing with updates and has a lot of content. There is Ultima Online, the first MMORPG for many people, which was released in 1997. Besides these, the most well-known in Turkey are Knight Online and Metin2.
