What is Substance Painter?
Substance Painter is a texture painting tool belonging to the company Allegorithmic that is quite powerful—in fact, it is incredibly powerful. Among its users, it is also described as the Photoshop program for 3D models.
Just as you can edit and paint your 2D visuals with Photoshop, with Substance Painter you can paint, mask, and manipulate your 3D models as you wish.
As mentioned above, the Substance Painter software is actually a texture painting, or rather, editing program and allows you to create very beautiful, realistic textures for your models.
With Substance Painter, you can speed up your work thanks to real-time PBR materials, textures up to 8k, and many more presets.
With the very powerful editor inside Substance Painter, you can also see your work in real time and progress with great confidence.
If you are interested in game development, you know that creating textures used to be quite a laborious process. Textures were created by constantly switching between Blender / ZBrush and Photoshop, and this was very tiresome and took a long time. With Substance Painter, we are now able to do many things without having to switch between two or three programs anymore.
With the changes we make to the Normal Maps of the visuals, we can easily give our model depth without increasing the polygon count, and for this, we no longer need to export the model from ZBrush and get the map outputs afterwards. Substance Painter does all these and many similar tasks for us.
The model you create with this program can gain a very unique and distinctive form.
