Which is Better: vBulletin 5 & xenForo 2?
vBulletin vs xenForo
It seems this is one of the most frequently asked questions by entrepreneurs who want to set up a new forum lately, or more precisely, in 2020.Of course, making a decision between the two is really tough because both vBulletin 5.0 and xenForo 2.0 are great, and naturally, each has features where it excels over the other.
Theme: I think xenForo has done a better job in terms of theme than vBulletin, such that even if you don't install a theme after purchasing xenForo, you still get a very nice looking forum site. Unfortunately, you cannot achieve this level of success with vBulletin themes.
xenForo
vBulletin
Price: Price-wise, xenForo being cheaper than vBulletin will be an advantage for you.
xenForo: $140
vBulletin: $250
Performance: Although the vBulletin 4.2 series is the best in my eyes, vBulletin 5 is much better than vBulletin 4.2 in terms of performance, but when it comes to this, xenForo has surpassed them all.
With xenForo, you can support many users without overloading the system, but if you use vBulletin, when your site's traffic increases, it can use more than normal GPU and CPU.
Admin Panel: I think the best thing vBulletin has done is to create a very nice, simple, and user-friendly admin panel. With its ease of use and functionality, vBulletin really has a better admin panel than xenForo, but of course, this depends a bit on the user.
Eventually, once you get used to it, the xenForo admin panel will seem easy as well.
Index Speed: vBulletin is not very successful in terms of index speed. In the past, we had to install plugins in vBulletin to get indexed, but with vBulletin 5 this is no longer necessary as it automatically does the necessary optimizations for indexing; still, it is not as good as xenForo.
With xenForo, even newly established sites get indexed at least every 2 days, while with sites set up with vBulletin, sometimes even after 4-5 months, there are times when they do not get indexed for a whole week.
If you are not going to set up a forum on vBulletin, there is no obstacle for you to set up xenForo. Because of situations like being cheaper, stylish and fast, and most importantly, faster indexing compared to vBulletin, our choice is of course xenForo.

Which one would we choose?
Many large forums, and in fact many small forums, are switching to xenForo for the reasons mentioned above. If you are not going to set up a forum on vBulletin, there is no obstacle for you to set up xenForo. Because of situations like being cheaper, stylish and fast, and most importantly, faster indexing compared to vBulletin, our choice is of course xenForo.
