Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Review
SEKIRO
If you enjoy fighting and it doesn’t matter how many times you die, then Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is exactly the game for you. I don't want to proceed without some warnings; this is a souls-type game, so if you are not a player of this genre or if you are just about to start playing games for the first time, it won't take long before you have anger fits while playing Sekiro. Because on some bosses you might get stuck for hours, maybe days, unable to find a way to kill them. But no boss is immortal, there is always a way. In such moments when you are stuck, Sekiro allows you to give up on this fight and explore other areas, fight with other opponents, and after getting stronger, face the boss again. This is really a beautiful detail; instead of breaking your keyboard, mouse, or gamepad during fits of rage, it gives you your freedom back and tells you to get stronger and come back and finish them off later. Every fight you enter provides you with new experiences and helps you get used to the game, so even if they’re small, do not avoid fights.
Graphically, Sekiro is quite satisfying and with its voice acting, you really feel the atmosphere. The sword fights are very realistic, indeed I can say they are the most realistic I have seen so far. It shows you exactly how a shinobi wields a sword. As if doing all these so well wasn’t enough, the game is also very successful and clear in its storytelling. In terms of gameplay, Sekiro offers variety: it allows us to attack each enemy from different angles, even to kill quickly and stealthily, as well as offering different ways to fight.
Now let’s get to those very tough bosses. There are quite a lot of them; we can easily say there are more than 40 in total and each has different attacks, abilities, and difficulties. For each one, you must figure out their moves and play almost perfectly. The slightest loss of concentration will have you punished badly or, worse, make you start the fight all over again. Sekiro teaches us to be careful at every moment and just as much to be patient. In this game that pushes the limits of your patience, every time you cut down a boss, your sense of satisfaction will skyrocket and you will feel strong and invincible—until you encounter the next boss and die.
My rating for the game: 🎮🎮🎮
